Country Garden 1

This extensive garden of over an acre in rural Oxfordshire includes a large gravel garden, nuttery, orchard, meadow planting and vegetable plot. The existing framework of established hedging and topiary blocks provided a dominant architecture within which the new garden elements have found a home. The contemporary planting softens the formality of the clipped box, yew and beech, whilst new plantings of trees contribute to the ongoing long-term development of the garden. A tricky exercise in bringing new life to an over-mature site, the design both respects the existing framework and introduces areas of detailed planting for year-round interest.
